Gangarampur College was established in 1981 in Gangarampur Block of Dakshin Dinajpur district as a Co-educational Institute of higher learning with the objective of expanding the scope of higher education to all in one of the remotest districts of West Bengal.

President’s Desk (Shri. Goutam Das)
It gives me immense pleasure to be the President of this highest seat of learning in Gangarampur Sub-Division. Since its inception in 1981, the College has inculcated the values of freedom of learning and dignity of labour into the young generation in the true sense of the term. To be always a student has been my credo and I have always enjoyed my attachment with the seats of learning. It has been my endeavour, as the College President, to co-ordinate the activities of the College, the Govt. Agencies, and the greater society at large. I welcome one and all to partake of the holy water of the sacred well of knowledge and make life an adventure into the heaven of learning.
Principal’s Desk (Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Kumar Jana)
The motto of this institution is “Dare to know, dare to be wise” and this encapsulates the vision of this Institution. Located in one of the remotest corners of West Bengal, this Institute strives to inculcate this urge to “dare” and to be “wise” through attainment of true knowledge. Knowledge that lifts the soul and mind. Knowledge that works for the upliftment and betterment of fellow beings. Knowledge that removes darkness and leads us to enlightenment. For the several first generation and second generation learners of this district this College is a steady beacon and has allowed them to break free from the manacles of remoteness and curtailed education. This College has unfastened them from the limitation of geography. We, at Gangarampur College, nurture this ambience of knowledge and believe that through its dissemination we fulfill our social responsibility in creating well-informed responsible citizens who will become the pillars of our democratic society and polity and lead the society towards progress.

The College has moved forth by leaps and bounds to achieve its desired objectives and has brought higher education to the threshold of the stakeholders– the people in general. Gangarampur College fraternity believes that challenges shall always be there. But we have our rock of faith and sheer grit and fortitude to overcome those challenges. Through developing the intellect and reasoning ability of our students, with a strong base of moral, ethical and human values, we shall preserve the core values and progress to a golden era of civilization.
